Staff Spotlight: Adam Crockett
Meet Adam Crockett, Director of Operations at Ambre Blends! Adam has worked full-time at Ambre Blends since 2012, although he has been involved with the company since 2007. He has served as the Shipping Manager in the past and we also consider him our resident tech guru/handyman.
“Adam is so instrumental when it comes to the bones of this business,” said Ambre. “He handles a lot of stuff that is crucial in keeping this business running. From legal, accounting, insurance, supplies and all things operational down to handyman work around the building, we could not do it without him! Adam helps me make productive, wise decisions when my heart can get in the way, he’s 100% the ying to my yang. Working with my husband has its challenges (naturally) but I would not trade it for the world.”
You might have seen Adam before working the checkout at our Holiday Open House or in our Put Down the Colognecampaign. Now you can learn a little bit more about Adam and why he’s an integral part of our Ambre Blends team!
What is a day in the life of Adam like? I start out every morning by checking inventory levels, overnight orders and financials. Then I get to paying the bills, checking our social media, ordering for ingredients and packaging, doing daily financials, helping with shipping if needed and then taking our packages to the post office.
What is your favorite part about working for Ambre Blends? I love everything about working at Ambre Blends! I love the people I work with, I love our work space and I love knowing that we are making and selling high-quality body care products that are good for the body and environment.
What are some of your favorite organic products you use? I am a BIG Ambre Blends user. I also love organic cotton clothing and footwear, and any healthy, organic foods I can find.
Favorite Ambre Blends product/essence? Solace Essence, Unmasque Natural Deodorant, Solace Olive Oil Soap and any scent of our Face & Beard Tonic.
What’s a fun fact about you that people don’t know? After I graduated from Indiana University, I went to work as an outdoor expedition guide. I led two week canoeing trips in Northern Minnesota, caving and climbing trips in Indiana and Kentucky, and mountain biking, climbing and snowboarding trips in Lake Tahoe. I even did a 21 day winter mountaineering course in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I love being out at my property in Parke County, Indiana. I love working on the property and cabins, swimming in the pond, riding trails on my dirt bike and, in general, just being in the woods.
Why should people be using Ambre Blends? What’s the number one thing you wish people knew about Ambre Blends? In this day and age of everyone caring so much about what we put IN our bodies, we should also care as much about what we put ON our bodies. I wish everyone knew how much thought, energy and love we put into creating all of our body products so that they are the healthiest and greenest on the market.
What has been one of the most rewarding experiences about working at Ambre Blends? The most rewarding thing about working at Ambre Blends has been watching the organic growth of the company. We have stuck to our original ideas, plans and recipes since we started and it is so great to see our customers embracing what we have worked so hard to build.
What was your first job? My first “job” was working in the warehouse of my father’s company, Karma Records, putting stickers on CDs, tapes and albums, sending out promotional materials and checking inventory stock levels. My first “real job” was bagging groceries at O’Malia’s Food Market.
Anything else we should know? I have tried to live my life by the mantra (and Lucille Ball quote), “I would rather regret the things I have done than the things I have not.” It has worked well thus far for me.
