Winter Skincare Tips

The cold winter months have arrived here in the midwest, which also brings dry, cracked skin. We all want to keep our healthy, hydrated skin year-round but the harsh winter conditions can make it challenging. Don’t fear, we're here to help! Banish dry, winter skin with these winter weather tips so you can keep a healthy glow all year round.

Help your hands. We’ve all dealt with cracked and itchy skin on our hands or knuckles at one point or another. The skin on your hands is thin, which means that your hands have a hard time holding onto moisture. Make sure you’re wearing gloves when you go out into cold temperatures, and don’t be shy about applying Body Cream throughout the day. Our Body Cream is made with shea butter, vitamin E, jojoba oil and green tea, perfect for your skin to absorb during the winter. If you’re dealing with cracked, chapped or rough skin, you can even apply our Lip Remedy on your hands, elbows or anywhere that needs help healing!

Use a humidifier. Add more moisture into the air by blasting a humidifier, which will help prevent your skin from drying out. Sleep with one in your bedroom and even hook up a small humidifier in your office during the day.

Stay away from hot baths. Although a steaming hot bath sounds delightful in the cold winter months, you’re actually doing more harm than good if your bath water is too hot. Heat from a hot bath or shower breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to a loss of moisture. Instead, try a lukewarm bath with a couple pumps of Skin Tonic in it to help lock moisture into your skin.

Keep your face hydrated. Using Skin Tonic on your face is a great way to guard your skin from harsh winds and freezing cold. By gently patting Skin Tonic onto your face after a shower or cleansing, it penetrates the oil down into deeper layers of your skin to deliver nutrients, retain moisture, and rejuvenate dull skin. Do you know some of the other benefits of using Skin Tonic on your face and body?

  • Boosts cell regeneration and oxygenation.
  • Prevents formation of age spots.
  • Retains natural dermal moisture in skin.
  • Reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Helpful in the reduction of the effects of eczema, psoriasis and post-operative scarring.
  • Increases blood flow and improves elasticity.
  • Doesn’t leave oily residue!

Don’t forget about your lips. Use a toothbrush to gently exfoliate the dry, dead skin on your lips and then apply a healthy amount of lip remedy to seal in moisture and form a protective barrier. Refrain from licking your lips when they feel dry, it will only make the problem worse! Use a scarf when going out into the cold to cover not only your neck but your mouth as well.
