The first thing I do in the morning is make my infused water. I make it with mint, lemon, lime, ginger, and cucumber. I drink the whole thing and then I pour my morning coffee. I’ve gotten out of the routine of starting with coffee because it eats your stomach lining and gives me jitters…it’s not a good way to start the day. So I start with the water, take my morning supplements (Juice Plus+ fruit and vegetable blends, vitamin D, vitamin C, vitamin B, zinc, and a CBG immune booster), and then have my coffee.
I take my coffee and go upstairs to what I call “the retreat” and meditate. Right now I’m a student in the A Course in Miracles, and I cannot do my day without it. I read the daily lesson and go right into the meditation. Once I’m done with my lesson, I write in my journal what I got from the lesson after I’ve meditated on it. All of that takes me about 10-20 minutes – not much time, but it makes a huge impact on how the rest of my day goes.
Sometimes I’ll grab a piece out 28 Secrets to Glow Up – it’s tips for health, energy, and radiance by my dear friend Marianne Talkovski. She’s here locally in Indy and is an esthetician, acupuncturist, and certified life coach. She has this awesome book out about all these ways you can glow up, so I’ll open it up and it’s always the right secret at the right time. After that, I walk down the hall to wake up my kids and get them ready for school.
After the kids are off to school I head downstairs to workout. Today I’m doing yoga, and I’m always accompanied by my dog Louie.
Now it’s time to get ready to head out for the day. I switch up my skincare routine and the scent I’m using every 6-12 weeks. Right now, it’s super dry out and it’s winter so I’m using GOOPGLOW Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Glow Serum on my face every morning. I follow that up with Eminence Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum (I’m obsessed with this stuff). Then I top it off with Ambre Blends Skin Tonic. Sometimes, I may even add a little bit of CBD salve from Green Cherry Organics for an extra layer of hydration on top of the Skin Tonic.
Today I’m using the Ahnu Natural Deodorant and then using the Ahnu Spritzer all over, and then I grabbed the Ambre Oil Essence because I like mixing that with Ahnu. On my body, I’m using the Ahnu Skin Tonic layered with the Body Cream since it’s dry outside – it’s the perfect time to use both at the same time since it lasts all day. Then I get dressed, grab my infused water, and head out the door to work!
I think it is important to create a healthy atmosphere and lifestyle not just at home but at your workplace, too. Everyone at Ambre Blends was on board and excited when we decided to stop each week for an hour and practice yoga together. It not only brings us closer as a team but it also helps us individually with focus, alleviating stress, increasing productivity, and overall well-being.
Our teacher, Sara Brown (who is truly the best), puts so much into her lessons. She infuses meditation with an affirmation or lesson on top of the work (we practice all types of yoga). She puts so much into each class including customizing a playlist each week, which always hits the soul in the right way every time!
We asked Sara about her experience teaching yoga at Ambre Blends, and here’s what she had to say:
“I am not shy about sharing how incredibly grateful I am to be guiding at Ambre Blends. I share with the staff frequently that it is my favorite part of the week to be in that space. It is sacred. It is vulnerable. It is beautiful to witness the love and support that they offer one another. They are open and willing to try new things with their bodies and their breath. They are all uniquely different and I cherish the texture that they each individually bring to that space. I now call many of them friends, and know I am going to be met with a smile when I walk in the door each week. Mostly, it is healing to see the environment in which Ambre, Adam, and Steph have cultivated for their staff, one in which they are cared for deeply physically, emotionally, and spiritually.”
Personally, Sara has made it an addiction for me…I simply can not get enough!
“My yoga journey began way back in high school. I took an advanced physical education course that included a small chapter on yoga. Needless to say, it was different than any other form of exercise I had been exposed to before. I dabbled sporadically in it during my early 20s before meeting my dear friend Fran Valentine. I was lucky enough to have her beautiful spirit as my teacher, my guru. She effortlessly guided me into the foundations of yoga, and I have had a dedicated practice since 2005.
The calling came to dive into yoga teach training in 2014. At that time, I was not seeking to be a teacher, I was interested in deepening my own practice and working through some personal life challenges I was facing in that moment. It was such a delicious spiritual awakening, one that will forever be etched into my life.
Yoga had become my therapy, my church. The takeaway for me is and always will be that yoga doesn’t change your life, it changes you for life.
At the end of my training, someone asked me where I was going to teach. My responses was I really hadn’t planned on teaching at all. They posed this amazing question: how can you have this deep knowledge and not share it with people?
As someone who is a lifelong student and ‘guru’ in my professional life, this really struck a chord. So here I am, sharing my ‘gospel’ with whoever will listen. I have been blessed with many teaching opportunities since then!”
The newest member at Ambre Blends isn’t new to the Ambre Blends family at all! Katie Thomas first met Ambre through fitness and wellness a few years ago, and even was in an Ambre Blends video shoot over the summer. In July, Katie came on board full time as an Executive Assistant.
“Katie is the perfect addition to our Ambre Blends Family,” said Ambre. “She adds so much to the vibe of this place and brings fresh, exciting ideas to the table. As with everyone here, it was divine timing that our stars aligned and Katie has found her second home.”
If you meet Katie, she could make you a pretty cool animal out of a linen napkin from her time as a yacht stewardess. And you might see her in a cover band in the next couple years (that’s her five year plan)! But until then, read on to find out more about Katie…
What is your favorite part about working for Ambre Blends? I love the crew and the environment. I came from the holistic wellness world, so Ambre Blends is the perfect combo of business and wellness. There are live plants, natural lights, a bad ass kitchen, and obviously skin care everywhere. I haven’t been here as long and right away you can tell everyone is a family who takes pride in treating their role with a high level of priority. Everyone wants to be here!
What are some of your favorite organic products that you use? We eat as much organic as we can at home. I love organic rose water spray and use it a lot! Most of our stuff at home is organic when possible, and Good Earth cinnamon hot tea.
What is your favorite Ambre Blends product/essence? I love the Ambre 10ml Roll-On Essence Oil. I’ve been wearing it for probably seven or eight years. I also keep the Skin Tonic nearby. Alex keeps going through my Skin Tonic to shave with and he’s obsessed too.
What is a day in your life like? It’s incredibly glamorous! I wake up around 6 am and get moving, make breakfast for Kale (my four year-old son), make a smoothie if I have time, drop Kale off at school, then go to work. Depending on the day, I have a few wellness/fitness clients I train or head home and make dinner for the fam. After dinner, it’s play time. We play baseball in the yard with Kale and Tasso, our 120-pound Italian Mastiff. After Kale goes to bed, I hang with the hubs, have some friends over, or go to yoga!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Hot yoga, hanging with the family at the lake house, playing with neuro-health gadgets, wine with girlfriends, swimming with Kale, playing in the woods with the family, and volunteering with a leadership group I love.
Why do you think people should be using Ambre Blends products? People should know how much love and attention goes into every single product. The ingredients are the most pure and there’s a small group of women actually making your product. It’s crazy how much passion happens behind the scenes.
What has been one of the most rewarding experiences about working at Ambre Blends? I left working for myself and never realized how much I was missing being a part of a team. I love coming to work and knowing I get to be in a joyful and loving environment that is so much fun! Everyone puts everyone else’s needs as a priority so you leave feeling good about how you spent your day.
What was your first job? My first job (technically) was snow plowing with my dad and brother when I was around 10 years-old or so. We loved staying up late and getting to help. It was actually my brother’s company that he still has 24 years later!
