Ambre Blends donates 1% of all online sales to charity, and we want to introduce you to the five new charities we are supporting! When you shop online, you’ll have the chance to select one environmentally-focused charity from a list of five (three global, one regional, and one local to us in Indiana) when checking out at shop.ambreblends.com. Take a look at the five organizations we’ve chosen to share the love…
The Elephant Project: Did you know that in Africa, 100 elephants are killed every day for their ivory? And that number is increasing yearly. The Elephant Project has developed new ideas and new solutions to address the threats to elephant survival, providing them a new future free of cruelty and death at the hands of humans. Their three-prong strategy is designed to provide immediate protections to elephants while developing long term sustainable solutions to end this epic struggle. Learn more on Facebook and Instagram.
The Humane Society of the United States: With your help, The Humane Society fights the big fights, working to end all forms of animal cruelty and achieve the vision behind their name – a humane society. The Humane Society and their affiliates provide direct care to more than 100,000 animals each year—more than any other animal welfare organization—through sanctuaries, veterinary programs and emergency shelters and rescues. You can follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
Hoosier Environmental Council: We always like to give some local love to our home state! The Hoosier Environmental Council is the voice of the people for the environment in Indiana. HEC is the organization with the passion and the plan to tackle our environmental challenges and help make our state a healthier, better place to live and do business. HEC works to reduce barriers to sustainable energy use, cut down on pollution and greenhouse gas emissions associated with factory farms, strengthen drinking water protections, and safeguard wilderness areas. Did you know that Ambre Blends donates 1% of all online sales to charity? When you shop online, you have the chance to select one environmentally-focused charity for a list of five. One of those organizations is Ocean Conservatory, a movement to protect our oceans.
Our ocean faces many threats like the onslaught of ocean trash, overfishing, and ocean acidification. With your help, Ocean Conservancy is developing innovative solutions to protect and save the ocean from today’s greatest global challenges. The ocean is at the center of who we are. What happens to the ocean impacts all of us; it produces half the air we breathe every day, the food we eat, and the water we drink. “What happens to the ocean impacts all of us,” said Janis Searles Jones, CEO of Ocean Conservancy.
Since it was founded in 1972, Ocean Conservancy has accomplished many incredible things for whales and wildlife, local communities, and the ocean. One of the first initiatives was the Whale Protection Fund, which focused on saving whales and protesting commercial whaling by Russia and Japan. Ocean Conservancy raised support to invest in scientific research and launched petitions to raise awareness about the whaling industry. That paid off when the International Whaling Commission finally banned commercial whaling in 1982.
While their work in the early years focused on saving different species that live in the ocean, they knew they couldn’t protect these species without protecting their habitat, which is when they shifted to a more ecosystem-based approach. Ocean Conservancy was one of the first environmental organizations to engage industries in conservation, which is still a key part of their mission today.
Over the years, the mission of Ocean Conservancy grew and solidified to make them who they are now: a science-based organization that stands on the absolute conviction that each individual can make a positive difference for our ocean. Ocean Conservancy is dedicated to finding solutions to the biggest threats facing our ocean. The ocean is our responsibility, what happens to it impacts all of us.
