In the beginning of 2020, we upgraded our 10ml oil essence bottles from a roll-on to a pump dispenser after spending almost two years designing a new bottle and applicator. It was time for a change. These new bottles were designed specifically for Ambre Blends to give the wearer the exact amount of oil essence they need to radiate their favorite scent all day long.
We know it takes some getting used to, but we think after you use the pump for a while you won’t miss your old roll-on. Don’t dump on the pump – here are six reasons why you should love it:
The 10ml pump bottles are more sanitary than the roll-ons. When you go into a retailer and try the testers, do you know how many other people have rolled that bottle onto their skin? We don’t even want to think about it. Now that retailers have the 10ml pump bottles, you don’t have to worry about who has tried the scent before you since they simply pump it into their hand.
No more leaking. All roll-on bottles are a controlled leak to dispense oil. Unfortunately, we have no control over how the oil comes out of the bottle over time. The roll-ons either came out too fast or the oil wasn’t coming out enough – we even had bottles leaking on airplanes due to the air pressure. With the 10ml pump bottles, we don’t have issues with leaking thanks to eliminating the rollerball.
The 10ml pump bottles protect the integrity of the oil. Every time you use the roll-on, the stainless steel ball that dispenses the oil onto your skin also picks up any other products you might have on your skin and deposits it back into the bottle. The rollerball picks up everything from sweat to spray tans to bacteria on your skin. With the pump bottles, the dispenser doesn’t make contact with your skin, protecting the oil inside.
One pump gives you the perfect amount of oil. When designing the new bottles, we created the dispenser to pump out the amount you need to radiate all day long. When using the old roll-ons, some people didn’t use enough oil and others used way too much oil. With the pump bottles, one pump is all you need. One pump per day should make your bottle last approximately three months, and you can even use a half of a pump if you’d like to use less.
The pump bottles encourage correct oil application. Because this is a natural essence, it needs heat and friction to activate. With the pump bottles, you put one pump into your hand and rub it onto your forearms, back of your neck, onto your chest, and even into the tips of your hair. This is how the product was intended to be worn – activated by your body heat and body chemistry.
It’s easy to refill. The new 10ml pump bottles twist on and off, making it easier than ever before to refill with a 30ml refill bottle.
In addition to these six reason why we love the pump bottles, you might notice our new packaging had ditched the stick-on labels and now has our logo printed directly on the bottle. After you start using the pump bottle, we think you’ll understand why we’re so excited about this new packaging. Put the roll-on down and pick up a pump!
Do you know the different between natural and synthetic fragrances? The popularity of natural fragrances is quickly on the rise – they are concentrated with less fillers, stick to your skin longer, and aren’t full of dehydrating chemicals. And you get the added bonus of knowing that everything your skin is absorbing is safe and suitable for most skin types.
The majority of synthetic fragrances are made from petrochemicals, which have been linked to cancer, reproductive toxicity, allergies, and more. These petrochemicals are absorbed into your skin and breathed into your lungs every time you use products that contain synthetic fragrance. Synthetic fragrances can be hidden in everything from cosmetics and skincare to cleaning products and candles.
Synthetic fragrances tend to be more offensive to those around you than natural fragrances. You know the feeling of walking into a department store and having your senses assaulted by the harsh smell of dozens of perfumes. When you wear synthetic perfumes and colognes, it’s very likely you’re causing those in your path to be offended from the overwhelming odor.
Natural Fragrances are Long Lasting
On average, natural fragrances will last anywhere from six to 15 hours. We read comments from our customers all the time saying they can smell their Ambre Blends on their clothes or skin a full day later. Synthetic fragrances last for an average of one to three hours. Dry skin has a hard time holding onto scent, and when you use a synthetic fragrance that contains alcohol it can contribute to your skin drying out even more. On the other hand, natural fragrances are sometimes known as “skin scents” because as your body temperature gradually increases, the scent begins to grow stronger.
Natural Fragrances Aren’t Overpowering
Natural fragrances such as Ambre Blends oil essences are alcohol-free and have a clean, rich, true scent. Since our oil essences are alcohol-free, they have a long shelf life – you’ll notice that the longer you have your oil essences the stronger they will get. Synthetic fragrances have a scent that is harsh, overbearing, and overpowering. Since synthetic fragrances are made with 80-97% alcohol, they have a short shelf life due to alcohol evaporation.
Natural Fragrances are Great for Sensitive Skin
Since natural fragrances use natural ingredients, they are less likely to cause allergic reactions. Natural fragrances also tend to have fewer ingredients to emit a richer aroma. Synthetic fragrances are full of fillers and chemicals, which means a much higher probability of causing an allergic reaction. If you have sensitive skin, it’s time to switch to a natural fragrance!
Natural Fragrances are Moisturizing
Natural fragrances are made with oils that will assist in nourishing and moisturizing your skin, helping it to retain the scent on your skin longer. You and only those close to you will experience the pleasant, natural aromas, not leaving a trail of odor behind you like traditional perfumes and colognes. Due to the high alcohol content in synthetic fragrances, these will remove your natural body oils causing dry skin. They are also highly flammable.

We all love burning our favorite candles at home – whether it’s winter and you want to get cozy or it’s summertime and you’re enjoying your favorite scent. But did you know that the majority of your scented candles are made from synthetic fragrances which can put your health at risk?
While scented candles are great for creating a relaxing ambiance, some candles can emit hazardous chemicals when you burn them such as benzene and toluene, which can cause damage to the brain, lungs, and central nervous system as well as cause developmental difficulties in children. Frequent use of candles with synthetic fragrances can lead to allergies, asthma, and even cancer.
Introducing: Pure Soy Wax Candles
We’ve created a 100% pure soy wax candle with a wooden wick that is organic, non-toxic, eco-friendly, and sourced from FSC-certified mills. Our candles come in Solace or Unmasque Essence housed in a recyclable clear glass jar. The 11oz candles burn for 100+ hours and the 3oz candles burn for 30+ hours, all while emanating the aroma of the natural essence – we don’t ever use any synthetic fragrance in our products!
The 3oz pure soy wax candles are great for smaller rooms such as a bath or laundry area, while the 11oz pure soy wax candles work well in bedrooms or living rooms.
Burning Your Candle
For best results, trim the wooden wick to between 1/4 to 1/2 inch before lighting. On your first use, tiny sparks and crackling may occur. Our wooden wicks burn slowly with a small flame to extend the candle’s life and help keep your air clean.
To maximize your candle’s burn time, do not extinguish the flame until the entire top layer of wax is melted to the edges. Blowing out your candle too soon could cause the candle to “tunnel” or only burn down the middle. When your candle tunnels, the wick cannot get enough oxygen to burn and will make it hard to light in the future.
After your first burn, it’s best to keep the wood wick trimmed – pinch off the split part of the wooden wick before you light it again to help maintain the wick and keep your candle lit.

Meet the newest member of the Ambre Blends team, Scott Vanzo! Scott has been with Ambre Blends since November of 2019. He came on to help us get through the holiday season and then we never let him go! You can find Vanzo picking, packing, processing, and shipping orders as well as helping out in production.
What is a day in the life of Vanzo like? Other than Ambre Blends, I enjoy nature, sand volleyball, live music, lake life – a free living lifestyle.
What is your favorite part about working at Ambre Blends? More than anything, I appreciate that Ambre Blends is not just a place of employment, but a family.
What is your favorite product/essence at Ambre Blends?Solace is my most used essence. Next to the oils, I use the Skin and Beard Tonic and Body Cream most often.
What was your first job? My first job was bagging groceries any Joe O’Malias for $4.35/hour.
What is one fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I have worked for all of Ambre’s siblings with exception of Josh.

What has been one of the most rewarding experiences of working at Ambre Blends? We had an opportunity to work with Central Indiana Land Trust. We planted over 1000 trees and learned about central Indiana flora and fauna.
One piece of advice? If I could convey a message to the world it would be to live present in every moment of every day…nothing is promised, but not to worry because everything happens exactly as it is supposed to.

You see the word “fragrance” all over the place. It’s on the back of products you use around your house and on your body…so should you be concerned?
Let’s start with what the word “fragrance” actually means. The definition of fragrance is “a sweet or pleasing scent.” In short, fragrance is a simply how something smells. What fragrance does not mean is that something is a perfume or cologne.
Here’s where the difference comes in: natural fragrance vs. synthetic fragrance.
Natural fragrances are made of essential oils and raw materials derived from botanical ingredients harvested from the earth, not made in a lab. Ambre Blends oil essences and body care products are carefully blended from the finest all-natural ingredients.
Synthetic fragrances are the perfumes and colognes you commonly associate with the word fragrance. These are made with synthetic chemicals, fillers and potential hormone disruptors as well as parabens, phthalates, synthetic musks and more.
In order to protect our proprietary blend of amber essences, the FDA requires us to label our products as a fragrance, although we want our customers to know that our products are made with natural plant-based oils (fragrance) which will always be pure, fresh and made with utmost integrity. As much as we wanted to get away from the “f” word because of its bad reputation, we are choosing to comply with FDA standards, even though not all companies in our industry play by the rules.

Do you ever wonder who makes all the Ambre Blends products that you order? When you step into the Ambre Blends Disco Hut, you’ll find Alison Agan, our Production and Fulfillment Assistant, making your products by hand with love! Since starting with Ambre Blends in August of 2016, Alison not only works in production but helps with shipping.
What is a day in the life of Alison like? During the week, you can find me cranking out product at Ambre Blends and coming home to some Netflix and ping pong. Friday and Saturday, I’m working at The Compass. Sunday is for pajamas and organized sports. Or unorganized…it’s Sunday so who cares!
What is your favorite part about working for Ambre Blends? The team I have the privilege of working with every day. We get to come together and provide people with their favorite products not only nationally but internationally, which is mind-blowing considering the humble beginnings of Ambre Blends. We can get goofy and we can certainly get down to business. Did I mention it’s the best smelling work place on the planet? That’s another bonus!
What are some of your favorite organic products that you use? Organic food is my favorite. I love all food but organic is my favorite!
What is your favorite Ambre Blends product/essence? I’m an all-out oil junkie. Solace and Invoke mixed together is my magical potion of choice. The Skin Tonic has also completely simplified my skincare routine.
What is a fun fact about you that people don’t know? I was born in a truck on Highway 101 in California. Literally born Ford tough.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I’m a true night owl and like any late night social scene revolving around food. I love to paint so if I’m feeling creative I can go to town on a canvas. Also, I like to get out in nature with my two pit bulls and my husband.
Why should people be using Ambre Blends? What makes Ambre Blends so special is how intimate yet powerful it is. It is so memorable but not invasive. When I first met my husband he wore Ambre Essence. I was wearing one of his shirts and could not get over how addictive yet light the scent was. So yeah, Ambre Blends is great for starting relationships.
What has been one of the most rewarding experiences about working at Ambre Blends? Being able to use our platform to spread information about the benefits of not only wearing more natural products but the impact of supporting local businesses and companies that support a greener lifestyle.
What was your first job? Working for my family’s tree service. Hauling brush, driving a dump truck, roping down trees…you know…the normal job for a 13-year old girl!
For your body, home or anywhere you want to smell like your favorite Ambre Blends Essence, we have Ambre Blends Spritzers! The Spritzers are a fun, easy way to blend your body, fabrics and favorite possessions with our essences, empowering your natural fragrance into a unique and soothing aroma.
Ambre Blends Spritzers are very similar to Ambre Blends Oil Essences. We’ve taken the essences that you know and love and turned it into a fragrance spray that you can use all over, even on your pets. This natural fragrance spray comes in all five Ambre Blends Essences and can be used almost anywhere to radiate the scent of your choice.
Shake, Shake, Shake!
When using the Spritzer, always shake before you spray to ensure the product comes out as a mist. There’s no emulsifying agent in the spritzer which is what most perfumes and spritzers have in them to mix the scent, so by shaking the bottle you’re naturally providing an emulsifying agent.
How to Use
Once you’ve shaken the spritzer, spray it everywhere! Use it on your body, your hair, linens, rugs…anywhere! Spraying it in your hair is a great way to radiate the scent all day long. Spray it in while your hair is wet before your blow dry and your hair will hold the oil throughout the day. Avoid spraying on silk and rayon.
Ambre Blends Spritzers come in two sizes, 8 ounces and a travel size of 2 ounces (approved for air travel). The 8 ounce bottle has approximately 900 sprays in it.
It’s hard to believe that March has almost come to an end and we are a quarter of the way into 2016! With the first day of spring behind us, I have to share my gratitude with all of our loyal customers for such a tremendous 2015.
Ambre Blends had its largest annual increase in sales ever last year! Much of that is attributed to YOU, our loyal customers, who are branching out, wearing more of our line and making Ambre Blends part of your lifestyle. We’ve noticed that our customers who previously only wore one scent in a Roll-On are trying different scents and exploring our product offerings, including the Natural Deodorant, Pure Soy Wax Candles, Skin Tonic and more. Did you know that we have approximately 80 different products now?
Our retail stores are noticing the customer demand and stocking a more diverse selection of our products to help meet our customers’ wants and needs. Stores that have only carried Roll-Ons now stock Deodorant and Beard Kits, and we know we couldn’t have grown like this without you. Thank you to all of our incredible customers for the support, kind words, encouragement and suggestions. You have played such a large part in the growth of our company.
We have so much in store for you for the rest of 2016. For starters, we are now selling our Ambre Beards products individually as well as in the Men’s Grooming Kit. So gentlemen, if you need to restock your Face and Beard Oil, you can buy individually instead of only in the kit. We also will be debuting an unscented Skin Tonic just for your face (for men and women) due to customer demand. We’ve had people tell us that their eyes are sensitive to some of the oils when wearing the Skin Tonic on their face, so be on the lookout for small bottles in an unscented version.
April showers bring May flowers, but they’ll also bring in two new limited edition products you can find exclusively online. For Earth Day, we’ll be selling a limited quantity of our white birch display holders. We debuted these at our open house for our Indianapolis customers in December and they were a huge hit. Each birch display holds a 10 ml Roll-On and 30 ml refill bottle, which is a great way to let your oil sit and age before use.
Also in April, we’ll have a small limited supply of Ambre Essence Bubble Bath available online in the end of April. These will come in a beautiful frosted glass bottle. We’re launching the Bubble Bath just in time for Mother’s Day, so treat your mom to a luxurious bath, she deserves it. Get it while you can because once it’s gone, it’s gone!
Good news beer lovers: we are partnering with Sun King Brewing Company to come out with Lip Remedy made with hops. Instead of tasting like blood orange, this Lip Remedy will be similar to the taste of Sun King’s Grapefruit Jungle. One of the things I’m most excited to announce is that I’m working on developing a baby line that will come out in the latter part of 2016. I was inspired to make a baby line a long time ago. I use these products on my own children because kids need quality, clean products just as much as adults do. I’ve been making my own products since my son was born, and with so many customers asking us for a children’s line we knew we had to do it. Our customers constantly tell me that they use our current products on their babies and toddlers, so we wanted to offer something more.
While the products we have now are already safe for your children, this will be a line exclusively for them. It will have a unique scent that is exclusive just for the baby line that will include oils beneficial to babies with colic, teething kids and more. In addition to products for your children, we’re developing on a belly oil for the baby line to help moms-to-be prevent stretch marks and also help heal stretch marks that are already present.

Having trouble smelling your Ambre Blends Oil Essence? Don’t worry, you didn’t get a “bad batch” and there isn’t anything wrong with your product! There are a few basic reasons that you may be having difficulty smelling your Ambre Blends product right now.
First and foremost, Ambre Blends Oil Essences have been produced in house, by hand, for over 20 years. Our ingredients and formulas have never changed. Please keep in mind that Ambre Blends Oil Essence is not a perfume and reacts with your body differently than most fragrances to which you may be accustomed. Our oils are all natural and contain no chemicals or synthetic compounds. Our oils do not and will not lose their scent.
Because our ingredients and formulas haven’t changed, the four variables affecting your ability to smell the products are your body chemistry, heat, how you wear it and the age of the oil.
Body Chemistry: Our bodies naturally go through hormonal changes and cycles that can shift your chemistry (i.e. menstrual cycles, menopause, pregnancies, hormone replacement, detoxing, foods and drinks we consume). Our oil essences are affected by your body chemistry, which is why our products smell different on different people. The longer your oil essence is on your body, the stronger it will become!
Heat: Body heat and environmental heat affect the scent of our products. In warmer climates, the Ambre Blends scent does not take long to radiate. In colder climates, we recommend heating up your oil essence bottle to boost the scent by putting it in a bowl of your hottest tap water and let it set for 15-20 minutes. Then, take it out of the water, shake it up and apply on your hot spots.
How To Wear It: Being that Ambre Blends Oil Essences are a light, pure and fragile fragrance, you need to apply them generously. Keep in mind that unlike perfumes, you can never apply too much Ambre Blends; our scents will never become overpowering or intrusive. Apply deeply and vigorously to your forearms, chest, back of the neck, up into your hair line, tops of your shoulders and even the ends of your hair. These are areas that we find work best with our products to help radiate the scent.
Oil Aging: Ambre Blends Oil Essences are like fine wine, they get better with age. The longer you have your bottle of oil, the stronger the aroma will get. When you buy a new bottle, it may not smell like your old one at first because you are starting over with the aging process. To avoid this situation, we recommend purchasing our 30 ml “refill bottle” and using it to refill your 10ml roll-on. Your unused 30 ml oil will continue to age while you use your 10 ml roll-on. This not only helps with the aging process but is also more beneficial financially and environmentally.
The other thing to consider is scent immunity. Scent immunity means that you may stop smelling your Ambre Blends products because your body has become used to the scent. Your nose gets used to the olfactory composition, therefore harder to smell on yourself. However, everyone else will still smell it. Simply put, your Ambre Blends fragrance has become a part of you.

Apply. It can be difficult to smell the essence in Ambre Blends products while they are still in the packaging. To get a true sense of our fragrances, generously apply the product by rubbing it on to your forearms and other “hot spots” such as the nape of the neck and chest.
Radiate. Ambre Blends pure, natural fragrance will come alive once it blends with your body’s warmth and chemistry. Give the essence time to work with your body heat. Our fragrance will radiate after the product has had time to blend with you. There is no need to reapply, the essence will continue to radiate as you cool down and warm up throughout the day.
Time. Over time, like wine, your oil essence will get better. It is also important to remember that after repeated use of our natural fragrances, it is completely normal for your sense of smell to become accustomed to your unique Ambre Blends scent. Alternating between our signature fragrances can help prevent scent immunity over time. Through exploring each of our essences, those around you will still be able to recognize your individual scent and your sense of smell will remain uncompromised.
